Pitched with Stage 3 and early Stage 4 outcomes in mind, the Angry Ant Program is designed for implementation with upper primary/ lower secondary students. However the Picture Book itself is accessible for students even from pre-school up, so adaptations are possible at a range of Stage levels.

This Program has flexible delivery options. There are 20 Activity Cards in the original Program (below), two of which are Extension Tasks, and all may be used selectively, although a suggested sequence for delivery is provided. Most tasks have crossover with a number of Key Learning Areas (KLAs) such that the Unit as a whole could be delivered in an integrated curriculum approach across PD/H/PE, English, Science, Visual Arts, Mathematics and Music lessons.

Since the release of the original Angry Ant Program, two additional activity cards have been developed. Both are provided as alternatives to the key "literacy product" in the original unit, which is a designing and making a "cooperative board-game".

1/ Activity Card 16a is modelled on "technology-enhanced social skills instruction", presented by Dr Terry Cumming from the University of New South Wales, as part of her keynote address at the Changing Minds Conference (2013). This is an approach to teaching social skills which combines a teaching sequence traditionally used in “Skillstreaming” (Goldstein & McGinnis) with a technology-component, in this case: “student-generated multimedia role-plays”.

2/ Activity Card 16b provides guidelines for students to create their own picture book which tells the story of a child calming themselves down, modelled on another well known children's book about anger and anger management: When Sophie Gets Angry- Really, Really Angry... by Molly Bang (Blue Sky Press).
